Shatili – a historic highland village in Georgia, is one of the most authentic local attractions you should not miss to visit. It is located on the northern slope of the Caucasus mountains. The place is well known for a unique agglomeration of the local towers clinging together to form a single fortress-like a whole. Almost abandoned by the 1980s, the village of about 20 houses is located around the hills, with some old towers restored as guesthouses to host increasing number of visitors. Other than architecture, the region is popular for the folk music and dance, horse races and Georgian wrestling.
