Mtskheta is an amazing city that used to be the capital of Georgia until the V century. Here is one of the oldest monasteries of Georgia. We offer you to visit the Jvari Monastery of the VI century, which is located at the peak of the hill, at the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Afterwards, we will go to the Svetitskhoveli cathedral, built in the beginning of the XI century – one of the main Georgian Orthodox churches. The temple of Svetitskhoveli is unique in its history- the whole royal family rests here. We will also head to Samtavro temple, where the King Mirian and Queen Nana, the first to adopt Christianity, rest. We will also see the grave of the saint Gabriel.

Visit one of the largest and most impressive architectural monuments of the 6th century - the temple of Jvari. It is organically inscribed in the landscape and amazes with the perfection of architectural forms.
From here a beautiful panorama of the city of Mtskheta opens, which is located between the mountain peaks and the confluence of two rivers. The name “Jvari” (translated from Georgian as “Cross”) was not accidentally received by the church. There is an old legend that St. Nino placed a cross, which marked
Adoption of Christianity by Georgia, in this exact place. “Jvari” is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Down back from Jvari, you will pass through the picturesque streets of Old Mtskheta, past the shops with souvenirs and samples of folk crafts. Our destination is the magnificent 11th century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral - a spiritual symbol of Georgia. A piece of clothing in which the Jesus Christ was crucified is buried under the temple. Svetitskhoveli is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Samtavro Monastery was built by the holy king Mirian. The date of construction of the church should be considered the gap between 339 and 351 years. However, the building, in its original form, has not survived to our days - the present church, stylistically, dates back to the 11th century and was built simultaneously with the Svetitskhoveli building. The temple served as the tomb of representatives of the Georgian Orthodox Church. Tradition
goes back to the kings, on the orders of which this temple was built - the holy King Mirian himself and his wife, Saint Nana, the enlighteners of Georgia, were first buried here.
This is an old monastery and architectural complex, located near the city of Mtskheta. The monastery was founded in the 6th century by one of the Assyrian Christian missionaries to the saints.
