Wine and food: adventure with a chief or a sommelier. Everyone has already heard about the red Kvevri wines, or orange wines – from white grapes. It is also widely known that real Georgian home-made bio-dynamic wine, or those from private winemakers, can not be bought anywhere else but in Georgia and is more precious than the factory ones. Many have heard about cheese “Guda” – which is made from sheep’s milk and Churchkhela, about the beautiful region of Georgia Kakheti and it’s gastronomic features.
I propose to go and see it all with your own eyes, try out everything on your own. See how they make “Dedis Puri” (mother’s bread) and personally participate in its preparation, drink wines directly from Kvevri and buy the most delicious tomatoes. Visit the monastery of St. Nino, and have a tasty meal and make a bunch of pictures along the way.
at 11:00 AM - and the road trip to Kakheti begins!
The first stopping point of the trip is the wine cellar in Manavi, of course, with wine tasting. Afterwards we will go to the sellers of Guda sheep cheese from producers from Tusheti: here you will learn how to cook a real “Mother's bread” - the national Kakhetian bread. We will buy fresh vegetables and eat a delicious sandwich (the guide treats you), as well as pick up some churchkhelas - learn how it is prepared. Finally, Georgian lunch will be waiting for you in the city of love Sighnaghi.
You can make a wish, as well as enter to a healing spring water in the ancient monastery of Bodbe, where the Georgian enlightener St. Nino is buried. On the way we will stop at every beautiful place for photo shoots: at the vineyards, on the fields of sunflowers or with a flock of sheep, at the churches and on the hilltops.
With the discussion of what we have seen, we are returning to Tbilisi, where you will look into a wine shop for local people. You can buy wine at non-touristic prices and drink a couple of glasses on the balcony in the Tbilisi courtyard.
